South Wales Police Fly the Flag!

For the first time this year, the Rainbow Flag will not only be flown at the South Wales Police Bridgend Headquarters, but will also be flown at six stations in each of the divisions across the force, as a sign of our commitment to supporting the rights of every individual and supporting our LGBT communities.

Rainbow stickers will also be displayed on the front doors or front windows of stations across the force.

The Rainbow Flag will be flown at South Wales Police Bridgend Headquarters in Bridgend and also in each of the divisions across the force including:

Communities and Partnerships Superintendent Liane Bartlett said:

“The flags are a sign of our commitment to supporting the rights of every individual and our commitment to supporting our LGBT communities.

“Our aim is for the people of South Wales to live in an environment that is open and welcoming, and free from discrimination.

“The flags symbolise our pledge to our communities that we will tackle all crime, including any homophobic hate crime and would encourage residents to report any issues to us.

“Our Minorities Support Unit staff and dedicated Hate Crime Police Officers in our BCUs continue to provide ongoing support to victims providing an essential service.

“This initiative compliments our partnership work with Safer Wales, the Welsh Assembly Government and other Welsh forces, where we have developed and launched a confidential hate crime self-reporting scheme online at www.saferwales.com, where members of our communities can report all hate crime confidentially and anonymously.

“The flag is a symbol of inclusiveness and our commitment to diversity.”
